1. Flu Vaccines:
It is recommended every one should be immunized every year. The Flu vaccines are usually available in our office in September or October of each year.
2. Tetanus Vaccines:
Tetanus is recommended every ten years as a booster. The Tetanus infection can occur after a minor injury like pin or nail prick to major injury. This is given to prevent a Tetanus infection which has a very high mortality.
3. Pneumonia Vaccine:
Pneumonia Vaccine is recommended to prevent Streptococcus Pneumonia. It is recommended for persons 65 or older. It is recommended to persons with chronic illness or risk factors, like Diabetes, Heart Diseases etc. Vaccination is recommended every 5 to 10 years.
4. Hepatitis A Vaccination:
It is recommended to persons who travel or work in Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe. Also it is recommended to people, who are at high risk to get Hepatitis A, through sexual activity or drug use. Two doses are advised at six month interval and booster dose every 10 years.
5. Hepatitis B Vaccination:
To all adolescents and adults wishing to obtain immunity against Hepatitis B. Also it is recommended to people, who are at high risk to get Hepatitis B, through sexual activity or drug use. Three doses are recommended at 0, 1 & 6 month intervals.
6. Zostavax:
It is given to prevent Herpes Zoster – Shingles to persons above 60 years one time.
7. Gardasil Vaccine for HPV – Human Papilloma Virus:
All previously unvaccinated women through age 26 years. Three doses are recommended at 0, 2 & 6 month interval.
